California, Culver City - Allied Model Trains
Culver City, CA - Allied Model Trains was founded in 1946, by Art Truman, on Pico Boulevard in West Los Angeles. The current owner, Allen Drucker, purchased the business in 1975, when it was doing very poorly, and housed in a 1200 square foot building. The store was remodeled and expanded several times, and, in 1988, ground was broken for a brand new building, and, in September of 1989, the business was moved to its new home in Culver City.
The new facility is a 12,000 square foot, miniature replica of the Los Angeles Union Station, and it is packed with trains of every make and size. Lavish, operating train displays in N, HO, O and G gauges are placed throughout the store. Allied Model Trains continues to grow, and is billed as "THE LARGEST TRAIN STORE EVER BUILT!"
