Orange Belt Lines
This N scale layout was started in early 95 and is home to both the Southern Pacific & Santa Fe railroads. The time period here is the late 40s so steam is in full control with SPs "Owl" & "Lark" trains being pulled by GS-4 & AC-12 steam power. Also making daily stops at the Santa Mesa depot behind Warbonnet F units & PAs are the ATSFs "Grand Canyon" & "Chief". AC-12 4294 & MK-6 3269 handle the bulk of the mainline freight duty and can be seen pulling long strings of PFE cars or mixed freight. Train Masters handle the local switching and pick up the freshly loaded reefers at the Sunkist packing house, they are sometimes called to heavy mainline freight duty as well. The layout is operated by a Digitrax Big Boy system and this allows me to use the Soundtraxx onboard sound systems in my larger steam locomotives. Aztec frames are used on all non-DCC ready locomotives along with the Lenz LE010XF decoder. The Santa Mesa local operates on a automatic point to point system under DC power.
