Texas - Amarillo Railroad Museum, Inc
Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Railroad Museum, Inc. is dedicated to presenting the incredible history of the Texas Panhandle through model railroading and full size railroad displays. Located on 12 acres, the Amarillo Railroad Museum, Inc. is building a new 5,000 square foot home, developing new displays, and building a new permanent layout representing railroading from Canadian, Texas, through Clovis, New Mexico, plus connections. Now on display is a Bureau of Mines Helium car, and future displays include the White Train nuclear weapon transport train, carbon black cars, freight and passenger equipment, and trackside equipment. The ARM has preserved the original Santa Fe Railroad, Amarillo Division, switching panels from the Santa Fe building, and is actively involved with an oral history project to keep the memories alive of some of the last remaining steam and early diesel engineers, firemen, and trainmen.
